Five ways in for young South Africans.
Kulcha Kolektiv brings sport, music, fashion, arts and technology together in one place, so young people can find what they’re good at, build real skills and step into work. Leadership is grown inside every pillar. Choose the one you care about and back it directly.
In development. The precinct is a concept proposal and no site is confirmed yet.

Sport
Sport creates pathways beyond the field
Regular coaching gives young people structure, confidence and a team. Five-a-side football is an easy way in: small teams, small pitches and little equipment. Around the game sit real jobs in coaching, refereeing, event delivery and the wider sports economy.
- What we want to build
- Youth five-a-side leagues, accessible training spaces, consistent coaching and exposure to talent pathways. The proposed precinct includes five-a-side courts, 3x3, skate and fitness spaces.
- What your gift pays for
- Equipment and kit, qualified coaches, facility hire, transport to fixtures, tournaments and recognised coaching or refereeing courses.
- Leadership
- Older players train as assistant coaches, referees and league organisers, and run fixtures for younger teams.
- How we’ll know it works
- Regular attendance, skills progression, teams that stay together across a season, and players moving into coaching, study or work.

Music
Music can become craft, confidence and work
Young people need more than a moment on stage. They need instruments, teaching, production tools, mentors and an audience, and a sense that music can be a career as well as a passion.
- What we want to build
- Music lessons, rehearsal and recording space, regular live showcases and routes into production, sound engineering and performance.
- What your gift pays for
- Instruments, studio and sound equipment, music teachers, artist mentors, showcase nights and technical training.
- Leadership
- Young musicians curate and host showcases, run rehearsal schedules and mentor newer players.
- How we’ll know it works
- Completed learning programmes, original songs recorded, public performances, and paid gigs or further study.

Fashion
Design skills can lead to local enterprise
Fashion brings creativity and commercial discipline together. A learner can move from basic sewing to a finished product, a first customer and an income.
- What we want to build
- Sewing and design training, shared production equipment, small-batch product development and places to sell, from pop-up stalls to a market.
- What your gift pays for
- Sewing machines, fabric and materials, design trainers, pop-up retail and market stalls, and work experience with local brands.
- Leadership
- Learners run their own small labels: pricing, stock, selling and teaching the next intake.
- How we’ll know it works
- Products finished and sold, portfolios built, first sales made and youth-led labels ready for the next step.

Arts
Creative practice helps young people be seen
Visual and performing arts give young people a way to understand their world, tell their own stories and make work worth sharing, including on the walls of their own neighbourhood.
- What we want to build
- Workshops, shared studios, community mural commissions, exhibitions and performance opportunities.
- What your gift pays for
- Art materials, teaching artists, studio space, public showcases and paid community commissions with a South African story.
- Leadership
- Young artists lead community commissions, curate exhibitions and run workshops for children.
- How we’ll know it works
- New work made and shown, portfolios growing, public participation and young creatives connected to galleries, clients and festivals.

Technology
Digital access must lead to practical capability
Devices alone do not close the opportunity gap. Young people also need guided learning, data, mentors and a clear route into further study or work.
- What we want to build
- Accessible digital learning, coding, design and media skills, career preparation and youth leadership programmes, linked to one learner profile through Flow Connect.
- What your gift pays for
- Devices, connectivity and data, facilitators, learning content, and mentors, bursaries and workplace exposure from partners.
- Leadership
- Experienced learners become peer tutors and help run the lab, its equipment and its schedule.
- How we’ll know it works
- Skills pathways completed, practical projects shipped, and progression into study, internships or work.
